Rick was born in Takapuna and now lives in Rothesay Bay with his wife and 2 school age children. He studied medicine in Auckland and graduated in 1998 , then spent 10 years in England. Whilst in the UK he met his wife and studied extensively to become a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners, gained a Diploma in Child Health, Diploma in Geriatric Medicine and a Diploma in Family Planning
On return to New Zealand Rick completed a Fellowship to the New Zealand College of General Practitioners and has recently completed an Advanced Certificate in Dermoscopy for the diagnosis of moles and skin cancer.
Rick has been a long term locum at Browns Bay Medical Centre and has just joined the practice in 2020 after the retirement of Dr Richard Hursthouse.
He enjoys the whole range of general practice from children to older age with an ongoing interest in the treatment skin and skin cancer.
He also works in several aged care facilities on the North Shore
When not working spends his time with family, surfing, tramping and enjoying music of all sorts.
